5 Guilt-Free Desserts That Won’t Kill Your New Years Diet

Being dedicated to your diet is tough enough without the little devil on your shoulder chomping down on a Hershey bar.

You don’t want to binge and wind up feeling guilty, but ignoring the craving and being grumpy and miserable is no happy alternative either.

Let’s be real – cut up fruit is just not quite as satisfying as the fitspo accounts on Instagram would lead you to believe.

Here are five dessert ideas that are guaranteed to satisfy your sweet tooth and keep your diet on track, guilt-free.

1. Fried Honey Bananas.

Have bananas that aren’t quite ripe yet?  Make quick and simple fried banana slices.  All you need is honey, cinnamon, coconut oil, and bananas to make this sweet-tooth fix.

• Pour oil in the pan at medium range.

• Slice the banana and coat the slices in honey with a mixture of honey and 1 tbsp. of water (to help cut the viscosity of the honey).

• Cook each side for a couple of minutes until they reach a delectable golden hue.

• Sprinkle cinnamon once cool, and enjoy as is or top off whole-wheat blueberry pancakes for a delicious start to your day!

2. Chia Seed Pudding.

Chia seeds have proven to be one of nature’s finest hidden treasures.  Packed with antioxidants and high in protein and fiber, chia seeds fill in any nutritional gaps left in your diet.  When soaked, the seeds form a more gelatinous consistency, much like that of tapioca pudding.  Simply,

• Take a cup and fill it generously with chia seeds.

• Soak them in whatever milk suits you (such as almond or coconut milk).

• Add a sweetener, such as honey or maple syrup.

• Experiment with a couple of drops of vanilla extract or a dash of cinnamon for flavor!

• Pour, shake, and refrigerate overnight.

• When ready to serve, add fresh fruit, nuts, or dark chocolate chips, and enjoy!

3. Frozen Blueberries with Honey.

Seriously – that’s it.  It really is that simple.  Ridiculously easy and surprisingly satisfying, you’ll find yourself refilling your cup more than once.  When frozen, blueberries obtain a nicer texture than they do normally, while seeming more substantive and less mushy.  The honey is a great way to balance out the tartness of the blueberries.

5. Cocoa-Date Truffles.

Dates are rightfully referred to as “nature’s candy”, but paired in pair with cocoa, these no-bake truffles are positively irresistible.  At only 46 calories per truffle, indulge to your heart’s content.

Ingredients:

• 8 (pitted) dates.

• 3 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder.

• 1 tsp. espresso powder.

• 3 tbsp. coconut flakes, and another 1/4 cup for rolling at the end.

Simply,

• Put all the ingredients into a food processor and puree until smooth, adding water by the tsp. if needed.

• Scoop the mixture by the tablespoon and roll the balls into the coconut flakes.

• Chill the truffles until you’re ready to enjoy!

With so many high-chemical “diet-friendly” dessert options, it’s hard to know how to indulge healthily.

These five recipes are guaranteed to satisfy your sweet tooth while preserving your dedication and hard work.
