7 Reasons to head to Cuba ASAP

Hey Charmers…

If you’re looking to get away this summer you might be dreaming of a Caribbean paradise, but you’ve probably never considered going to Cuba.  Traveling to Cuba from the U.S. has been banned for the past 50 years however, the ban was lifted this past year and a return to tourism is currently in progress…
Here are 7 reasons why you should start planning your trip to Cuba.

Time travel made easy

If you want to time travel but have yet to find a reliable time machine, then your best bet is to head to Cuba. Cuba has remained nearly unchanged since the 1960s and there is hardly a trace of anything from the 21st century, including internet connection. Grab a ride in an old-fashioned muscle car and leave your cellphone in your purse, you won’t need it.

1. When in doubt, dance it out

Dirty Dancing is more than just a movie in Cuba; it’s a way of life. Everywhere you go you’ll find clubs, restaurants, and even entire streets where you’ll see people dancing and having fun. Havana is filled with studios where you can take salsa lessons, but the locals are more than happy to teach you themselves.

2. History through the bottom of a mojito glass

Cuba has its own rich history, but there are traces of American history there as well. Classic American author Ernst Hemingway spent a great deal of time in Havana. Visit Hotel Ambos Mundos, where you can tour his old room and get one of the best views of the city overlooking the harbor. Or if you like your history in the shape of a cocktail glass, you can go to Hemingway’s favorite bar, La Bodeguita del Medio in Old Havana, where he frequently could be found writing with a mojito in his hand. You can even sign your name on the walls of the building like Hemingway himself.

3. Beyoncé and the Kardashians want you to go

On top of Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s famous trip, Cuba also recently became a Kardashian-approved destination. The reality stars recently took one of their famous vacations to Havana, Cuba, and raved about the experience on social media. Being that Cuba isn’t very lavish and expensive, it’s very easy to “keep up” with the kind of travel experience they had, and you deserve to go on a vacation fit for a Kardashian.

4. Pass the Sunscreen… Seriously you’ll need it

If your dream vacation includes lying on a beach and drinking Pina Colada out of a coconut, then you’re in luck because Varadero, Cuba has beautiful beaches lined with all-inclusive resorts complete with infinity pools, dance clubs, live music, snorkeling, and boat trips. The weather is tremendous and you can finally get the tan of your dreams, but don’t forget the sunscreen, please.

5. Go completely off the grid

If you want to unleash your inner explorer, Vinales, Cuba is the perfect spot, surrounded by mountains and sweeping valleys perfect for horseback riding and hiking. There are natural rock formations and waterfalls such as the Soroa Waterfall, which is a perfect place to swim and relax and still drink a Piña Colada out of a coconut if you’re in the mood.

6. Time is ticking

If there’s ever a time to head to Cuba, it’s now. With relations being restored between Cuba and the US, it’s only a matter of time before Cuba enters the 21st century with the rest of the world and loses some of it’s the old-fashioned charm. If you want to experience the adventure and beauty of Cuba that Patrick Swayze did in Dirty Dancing, you better start packing.
